What's up guys, happy Sunday! It's Champ Sunday here in Penang and I was super excited to be playing in one match for gold and one match for bronze. Didn't really have a chance to grab some breakfast so luckily I had some oats in the room because the mall didn't open until 10 o'clock. 'Max and I got out early for our mixed doubles match. It was a grueling match. We got up super big in the first game and ended up winning that game 13-11 and then won the second game 11-7 against Megan and Aiden, so we were able to take bronze and mixed doubles. It was extremely hot and sweaty, so all of us were just trying to battle the heat and battle the sweat - I think that's a common theme here in Asia for all of us.

I quickly had to shower and change as Domi and I had our women's doubles final shortly after my mixed doubles bronze medal match. Unfortunately I will give credit to Rose and Vivian because they played a phenomenal match. They just kept a lot of pressure on the entire match. Domi and I would say we were kind of just behind the eight ball on every single point and unfortunately it didn't go our way. I'm super happy to be going home with a two medals and hungrier for future tournaments coming up.

I'm ready to get home honestly it's been a long couple weeks traveling. It's a lot of travel. It's a lot of time away. It's a lot of them making sure I'm eating enough food hydrating enough and just just getting proper rest while we're on a totally different time zone than everybody.

I will say the only positive that came out of losing that final match pretty quickly was that I actually had time to go back to the hotel, shower, change into normal clothes, pack up all my stuff and head to the airport as I have a 39-hour journey home. It's been a little bit of a disaster so far but my travels are: Penang, Malaysia a stop in Singapore, fly to Inchin, South Korea, fly back to the States land in Atlanta and then from Atlanta back to PBI. So I will have left Penang Malaysia at 6 P.M. on Sunday, which is 6 A.M. eastern time on Sunday and I will land back home in Florida on Monday at 9 P.M. eastern time. So it's a long travel journey ahead and just making sure that I am hopefully gonna get some sleep on the plane and hydrate a lot.

I really appreciate you guys following along on my journey this week in Malaysia for the APP Tour with the Global Pickleball Alliance, so it's been an exciting weekend. Hopefully I'll see you guys out at some future tournaments! I'm going home to rest, recover, get back to practice, get back in the gym, and we go to the APP Chicago Open next week so hopefully I'll see you guys there!

11:20 p.m. MYT

Hey guys - happy Semifinal Saturday! So today same breakfast as always - Vivian and I went to get some smoothies and then she got her Asian breakfast.

We had to head to the courts for a meet-the-pro signing and pictures so we did that with Jack Munro, Roos van Reek, myself, Vivian Glozman, and Megan Fudge so we just got to see all the fans and sign some paddles, bags, hats, which was super fun to meet all the local people that wanted to come out and see us.

After that I got to warm up for women's doubles with Domi. We had our semifinal match against Amanda and Allison. That was a grueling three-set match. We won that match 6-11, 11-7, 11-8.

The crazy thing about being here in Malaysia is just that it is extremely hot. We are all sweating so much through our clothes through our shoes so it's just making sure that we're really managing our hydration and our food while playing these matches so it's always something to think about when you prepare yourself for the day here.

Semifinal Saturday was a busy day for all our matches today so after our women's doubles, Max and I had our semifinal match against Jack Munro and Roos van Reek. Unfortunately we lost that in three games - 7-11, 11-9, 4-11, unfortunately. Super sad to have lost that one, but I was super happy to be battling with Max, Moving onto Champ Sunday in women's doubles and then obviously battling for bronze tomorrow, so super excited to be playing in two matches on Championship Sunday. I'm looking forward to a fun and fantastic Sunday before I catch my flight home.

After my matches today, I just quickly showered up and did some recovery. The compression boots were extremely important today as it was just a long, grinding day on the pickleball court, but I went for sushi again by myself tonight actually. Sometimes I just make sure I have the same food throughout the week just being in so many different countries and the food is so different than I'm used to, so once I find something that I know that I like, I can stomach and my body can handle throughout the week I do typically stick to the same type of foods throughout the week. It's my little safety net. One thing that I do differently - maybe some pros do this too - but I pack a lot of food with me coming from the States and make sure that I have protein bars and little snacks as I have a nut allergy. I am gluten-free, I try to be egg and dairy free as well but in these countries sometimes it's a little bit harder so I do what I can when I can. It's very important for me to travel with food just knowing that I always am able to have something to eat. When traveling to these different countries, every time we come here it's something that we have to get used to: the heat, playing against different players different styles of play, but also managing our food and sweating and our hydration and our recovery on these long trips. I's super exciting to be here in Malaysia but I'm excited to come home tomorrow.

11:09 p.m. MYT

We've had a busy evening at the courts today. Everybody was playing their matches this evening. Max and I won our mixed match, 11-5, 11-8!

I'm super excited to be playing here at Pickle by the Sea, the fans have been amazing. The crowd is super full with people and players watching and cheering for everybody so it's been a fun experience so far here in Malaysia. I have semifinals of women's doubles and mixed doubles tomorrow so super excited to be in semifinal Saturday.

After mixed I just came back, went for dinner with Vivian for hot pot, which I know is gonna be a good dinner always when we go there. Now I'm just going to finish up with some recovery for the evening, call it a night, and then it's on to the semifinals tomorrow. Thanks for following along!

5:58 p.m. MYT

What's up guys? I'm happy for Friday here in Malaysia. I had singles this morning and I will be honest, I was just fighting some physical and mental stuff so it wasn't a great showing. Selena is a tough opponent, she gets a lot of balls back, so all kudos to her for playing well and moving on to the semifinals.

I just had a big break so I hung out, did a little bit of recovery before doubles and mixed doubles this evening. Domi and I just finished our women's doubles quarterfinal so we are moving on to the semifinals tomorrow. We won 11-1, 11-7, it was just another good match to get under our belt playing together.

I have a mixed doubles match with Max this evening and then again I'll do some recovery, grab some dinner and call it a night before another semifinal day tomorrow.

9:32 p.m. MYT

Thankfully, the courts are just across the street from our hotel so we headed back to shower and then got dinner at this mall that is right next to the hotel. It is super convenient when you're traveling to have restaurants in a mall super close to everything. We had sushi again for dinner then I am about to do my leg compression boots and my red light mat, which I travel with no matter where I go to every tournament around the world because recovery is super important for me. I need to make sure that I am taking care of my body after matches and between matches. So every night, I make sure that I do this during a tournament and then I will call it a night and we will have quarterfinal matches starting in the afternoon. Catch you later!

7:00 p.m. MYT

Women's doubles is done with Domi. We had a pretty uneventful match, but it was just good to get some matches under our belt before the draw gets a little bit harder for us as it is our first time pairing together. I'm super happy to be playing with her for this tournament and so excited to see how we do.

Mixed doubles is done with Max. We got to play on center court tonight against a Vietnamese pair, so that was fun. Another win under our belt, so quarterfinals tomorrow in all three events and I'm super excited to take you guys along with me for the entire week in Penang, Malaysia, so stay tuned!

Domi and I won our match, 11-0, 11-0
Max and I won our match 11-3, 11-1

3:30 p.m. MYT

What's up guys, happy Thursday! Today is round of 16 so I have all three events - singles, women's doubles with Domi Turkovic and mixed doubles with Max Manthou. It's a little bit of a different schedule here in Asia because they start all our matches in the afternoon so I was able to sleep in a little bit. I am sharing a room with Vivian and we went to get some breakfast. I had a smoothie and some oats and Vivian had some Asian breakfast. That is just not my thing but that's OK. I came to the venue for singles and I won my singles match so now it is time for women's doubles and I'll catch y'all later.

7:39 p.m. MYT

Hey guys, it's me Shelby! I'm here in Penang, Malaysia. Today was tournament day one it was a pretty slow day for me. I only had one round of mixed doubles with Max Manthou, also known as Purple Jesus, so we were in the round of 32 and it was a pretty good match. We're just getting our feel, we played a local couple and we won that match, so we're moving on tomorrow. I had a pretty slow day today. Just woke up, practiced, had lunch and rested before mixed doubles. It's been a long travel couple weeks coming from China.

We move on tomorrow - I start the round of 16 for singles, doubles with Dominika Turkovic and mixed doubles again with Max. I'm so excited for another tournament day here in Malaysia and the courts are awesome. We are playing at Pickle By the Sea in Penang, which is a new city for me.

Yesterday I did some exploring with Vivian. We practiced in the morning, some mixed doubles, and then we went to Kek Lok Si Temple, which was amazing. It was four stories of a different temple on this big hill in Penang. It was awesome to see a Chinese Buddhist temple. And then we went to George Town, which was super cool. They had some street art streets, they had an Armenian Street, and we went to the Clan Jetties which are wooden houses on stilts on top of the water, so it was super cool to see a new city and actually do some exploring before the tournament started today.
