Diamond Earns Two Pro Golds + Whitwell's Two Golds Highlight 2026 AARP Open
Association of Pickleball Players (APP) hosted world’s best pros, elite amateurs during first APP Tour event of 2026 season
The Association of Pickleball Players (APP) made an epic splash in its 2026 season debut, venturing to the birthplace of pickleball, Seattle, for the 2026 AARP Open.
The community-wide event showcased the world’s best pickleball players, placed a special spotlight on the AARP Champions (50+) and Masters (60+, 65+) Pro Divisions, and hosted hundreds of amateur players of all ages and skill levels from the Pacific Northwest and across the country. Pro players battled for hardware and prize money in front of a capacity crowd and national television audience.
In the APP Tour pro ranks, Casey Diamond led the way with two gold medals – one in men’s doubles with Portland native Aidan Schenk and another in mixed doubles with Seattle native Vivian Glozman. Max Green earned his first career APP Tour gold medal, Katerina Stewart earned the women’s singles title, and Megan Fudge and Sofia Sewing won their first women’s doubles title as a duo.
Men's Pro Singles
The championship action started with a men’s singles thriller, with first-time finalist Max Green taking on 21-year-old phenom Ronan Camron. The opening frame was neck-and-neck, giving plenty of excitement right off the bat, with Green earning the win, 13-11. Camron proved why he’s one of the best singles pros in the game by responding with an 11-7 win in game two. Game three was a battle of wills, with Camron holding off multiple match points before Green closed it out, 11-9, to clinch his first career APP Tour gold medal.
“It’s honestly unreal,” said Green. “I did not expect this going into this week, but I just started to play some really good pickleball and found my game, and my confidence kept building throughout the week.”
APP U.S. National Team member Tristan Dussault earned men’s pro singles bronze.
Women's Pro Singles
In a battle of the top two women’s pro singles seeds, Katerina Stewart faced a familiar foe in Bobbi Oshiro. Stewart’s all-around performance led the way as she dominated game one, 11-0. Stewart’s momentum continued as she cruised in game two, 11-6, to secure her first APP Tour gold medal of the season.
“It means a lot,” Stewart said following the win. “Thank you to AARP, the APP and everybody out here supporting me. I really appreciate it and I’m happy to get gold in this first tournament.”
Domenika Turkovic earned women’s pro singles bronze.
Men's Pro Doubles
The action continued with men’s pro doubles, as the 2-seeds Casey Diamond and Aidan Schenk faced the upset-minded 12-seeds Andre Mick and Elliott Schupp. Diamond and Schenk seized control of the match early and took game one 11-1. Mick and Schupp made a run in game two, but Diamond and Schenk pulled away late, 11-8, to win the gold.
“I don’t get to play over here in Portland or Seattle very often, so I was super excited to play in the Pacific Northwest,” Schenk said. “I knew I’d have a lot of fans out here and I was excited to come back and play near my home city.”
“I’m known for being a little bit quieter on the court sometimes, and Aidan brought out a different side of me this week, which is great,” added Diamond. “It’s almost like playing with a younger me.”
The Seattle duo of Max Manthou and Thomas Yu won men’s doubles bronze in front of their hometown crowd.
Women's Pro Doubles
Megan Fudge and Sofia Sewing were the top two medal winners on the APP Tour in 2025, and the duo joined forces for the women’s doubles championship match against Jill Braverman and Emilia Schmidt. Fudge and Sewing’s newfound partnership was seamless, as they commanded the match, 11-1, 11-5 to take home the gold.
“We always have fun out there and just keep to our strategy, keep to our game plan, bring the good energy, and we executed it amazingly,” said Sewing.
“Thank you to the fans for bringing the energy out for us,” Fudge added. “We had an amazing week together and we really wanted to keep it rolling.”
Shelby Bates and Bobbi Oshiro teamed up for women’s doubles bronze.
Mixed Pro Doubles
In a Seattle-centric finale, Seattle’s own Max Manthou and Christine Maddox took the court against Casey Diamond and Bellevue, Wash. native Vivian Glozman. Game one went in favor of Diamond and Glozman, who rode their momentum into game two for an 11-2 victory, clinching Glozman’s first APP Tour gold since 2023 and Diamond’s second of the AARP Open.
“This is my hometown so it’s really special,” Glozman commented. “I grew up playing tennis against Max [Manthou], so it was a full circle special moment for us to play on championship court today.”
“It was an amazing tournament,” Diamond added. “I got my first men’s doubles gold with Aidan, and then to get double gold has been amazing.”
Bobbi Oshiro earned her third medal of the event as she and Randy Blanco earned mixed doubles bronze.
AARP Champions Pro Action
In AARP Champions Division (50+) competition in Seattle, Lee Whitwell won two gold medals – one as women’s singles champion, and the other alongside Eugenia Carolina Lopez Ascarate in women’s doubles. Marcello Jardim and Jaime Oncins won men’s doubles gold, Sheri Courter and Youssef Bouzidi won mixed doubles gold, and Blake Arrant took home the men’ s singles title.
AARP Masters Pro Action
In AARP Masters Division (60+) action, Heather Iffert and Kelly Ojeda won the women’s doubles title, Todd Murphy and Steve Scurfield earned men’s doubles gold, and Nathalie Bagby and Dan Granot paired up for mixed doubles gold.
